Arts and Culture launches fourth phase of Reprint Classics project, 6 Feb

Launch of the fourth phase of the indigenous languages classics

The Department of Arts and Culture invites members of the media to a launch of the Forth Phase of the Reprint Classics project. In line with our task to preserve South Africa’s literary heritage, the DAC tasked the National Library of South Africa to reprint literary classics in the nine indigenous languages.

The project was first launched in February 2009, and to date a total of 68 titles have been reprinted in all the nine indigenous languages. The books are distributed via community libraries for access by the public. An additional nine titles will be launched to take the tally to a total of 77 titles reprinted since inception of the project.

The titles in the fourth phase include: Mbala Ngubaba by Skhosana PB kubandandazile by WK Tamsanqa, Kungavuka AbaNguni by IS Kubeka, Mutsuane by LL Mokwena, Lehuto la pelo by KL Sekele, Pethlelelo kwa setlhoeng by J Malao, Labhoboka litfumba by AT Fakude, Azwi faneli by TN Makuya and Xirhalanganyi by Ignitius Khosa.
