Arts and Culture hosts National Colloquium in celebration of former President Nelson Mandela’s legacy, 18 Nov

The Department of Arts and Culture in partnership with the Department of Sports and Recreation South Africa invite members of the media to the National Colloquium. The colloquium will take place at the University of South Africa (UNISA), under the theme: Youth of South Africa: “Our Time Is Now”.

The National Colloquium, aptly named Generation 2.0, seeks to initiate a dialogue amongst the youth about the future of South Africa and common nationhood, thus promoting nation building and social cohesion. The Colloquium is part of the UNITE 2.0 Campaign: One Man, One Nation, One Celebration in honour of the late former President Nelson Mandela’s unwavering commitment to justice, equality, non-racialism, nation building and Social Cohesion.

This interactive session will bring together academics and students from surrounding Universities as well as policy makers. The Department of Arts and Culture believes the colloquium is a right step in working together to move South Africa forward and create a proud nation.

The Colloquium is part of the build-up programme towards the Nelson Mandela Sport and Culture Day which takes place on Saturday, 22 November 2014 at the Union Buildings, Pretoria.
