KwaZulu-Natal Departments of Education and Provincial Treasury in partnership with Financial Practitioners Development Trust, joined forces to host the finals of the 2013 Grade 11 Provincial Speech Contest on finance.
This grand finale provincial school competition will see young pupils from all corners of KwaZulu-Natal under one roof, sharing their knowledge and concerns on financial education. The initiative seeks to cultivate financial management skills to learners whilst they are at school and also to promote self-confidence and personal growth.
The contest is also aimed at highlighting Provincial Treasury’s role in encouraging careers in finance, promoting financial literacy in schools KZN (Budgeting, Saving & Investment and Consumer Rights), creating awareness of consumer rights and available support system, promoting careers in the financial services industry, introducing insurance as investment for all individuals and use youth to discuss financial concepts with their parents, and integrating theory and practice as an important principle in the National Curriculum Statement.
Prices to be won include laptops, bursaries, certificates and many more. All media houses are invited to the finals which are scheduled as follows:
