Gauteng 2010 plans and launch of media centre

Gauteng is the heartbeat of the 2010 FIFA World Cup with three match stadia's, the international broadcast centre and the home to FIFA family.

Friday, 11 June 2010, saw the start of the world's biggest kick-off in our province followed by a number of high profiled matches and events to kick-start the festivities.

To that effect, the Gauteng Gateway 2010 project team, through the provincial Executive Council, will hold a media briefing session to reflect on the province's impressions so far. The details of the briefing are:

Venue: Gauteng 2010 Media Centre (Craft Design Centre)
Nelson Mandela Square Sandton central (opposite FIFA head quarters)
Date: Thursday, 17 June 2010
Time: 10h30 for 11h00

Also at the briefing, the province will officially launch its 2010 International Media Centre which is to serve as the nerve centre and source of relevant information about Gauteng and the planned activities.

We want to ensure all media local and international have a home, nerve centre and a space that has a finger on the pulse 24 hours and seven days a week to allow a free flow of information during the world cup.

Members of the media are hereby invited to this briefing and will also have an opportunity to register for the evening event at the briefing.
