Focus on Human Trafficking

Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Justice and Constitutional Development will tomorrow, 24 August 2010 hold public hearings on the Prevention and Combating of Trafficking in Persons Bill. 

The Bill aims to, among others, provide for the prevention of trafficking in persons and for the protection and assistance of victims of trafficking.

Meanwhile, the Portfolio Committee on Home Affairs will, also tomorrow, hold public hearings into the Births and Deaths Registration Amendment Bill. The Bill aims to provide for the provisions relating to registration of births and amendment of birth registration. 

It will also provide for the designation of funeral undertakers; make provision for the recording of adoptions; revise provisions relating to secrecy of records obtained under the Act.
