FIFA Confederations Cup crowd control exercise: Royal Bafokeng Stadium, Rustenburg, North West

Members of the news media are cordially invited to attend a crowd control simulation to take place at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg on Thursday, 21 May 2009 at 11h00.

The simulation is part of a week-long training session in the North West Province (NWP) aimed at honing our skills in preventing and combating any type of disruptive or unruly behaviour during the FIFA Confederations Cup and 2010 FIFA World Cup.

The French Gendarmerie and French National Police have partnered the South African Police Service (SAPS) in crowd control training and certain of their members will also be present during Thursday's simulation.

A water cannon and recently acquired body armour will provide good photo opportunities.
