The Department of Labour will host a two day Employment Equity roadshow in Gauteng on 26 and 27 August 2010. The road show aims to create awareness about Employment Equity compliance, with special focus on the preparation, development and implementation of an Employment Equity plan and online reporting facility for 2010.
Employers or heads of companies, assigned senior managers, consultative forum members, human resource practitioners, trade unions and employees are invited to attend the roadshow.
The Employment Equity Act applies to all sectors including government departments, with the exception of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF), National Intelligence Agency (NIA), and the South African Secret Services which are exempted from complying.
It is that reporting period where large and small employers must prepare and submit their Employment Equity reports and the roadshow hopes to help those in the dark about certain things. Manual submission of Employment Equity reports must be filed on 1 October 2010. However, the online reporting will be open from 1 September 2010.
