Derby match in celebration of Women's Day

The MEC for Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, Mr Dan Cooster Kgothule, will host 400 women during the derby game between Bloemfontein Celtic and Free State Stars.

The derby between the two Free State PSL soccer giants coincides with the Women's Day celebration on 9 August 2009 at Seisa Ramabodu stadium. This is the first game of the league which pits the two provincial PSL teams against each other.

Four hundred women supporters of Bloemfontein Celtic and Free State Stars, women from the department as well as girl children from Mangaung will receive a well deserved VIP treatment on that day in honour of the role women play in sport and society in general.

The department has purchased tickets for the 400 women and will also provide gifts to the girl children selected to attend the match. The 400 women and girl children will enjoy their special gift of Women's Day at a demarcated area within the grand stand of Seisa Ramabodu.

It is the considered view of MEC Kgothule that sport and recreation must be accessible to women and girl children. It is for this reason that MEC Kgothule calls upon Free Staters to use the derby match on 9 August to honour women and girl children who are already taking part in sport and recreation and to call on all the others to do likewise.
