Deputy President Motlanthe to chair the South African National AIDS Council (SANAC) plenary meeting

Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe, as Chairperson of the South African National AIDS Council (SANAC), will tomorrow, 25 November 2009 chair the last SANAC plenary meeting for 2009, at the Southern Sun Hotel, OR Tambo Airport. The meeting is expected to discuss issues relating to the implementation of the national strategic plan on HIV and AIDS and sexually transmitted infections (STIs), among others and to finalise preparations for the 2009 World AIDS Day.

Deputy President Motlanthe in his capacity as the Chairperson of SANAC ensures that the relationship between the government and civil society is harmonised, especially on issues of policy and strategy, as well as overseeing overall implementation and review of the national strategy plan. Deputy President Motlanthe will be accompanied by the Minister in The Presidency Mr T Manuel, Minister of Health Dr A Motsoaledi, members of the SANAC Secretariat and representatives from the civil society.
