Deputy President of Belgium Mr Pieter De Crem, visits Simonstown Naval Base

Deputy President of Belgium, Mr Pieter De Crem, accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Defence and Military Veterans, Mr. Thabang Makwetla, will visit the Simonstown Naval Base in Cape Town on Monday (28 October 2013) at 10h00.

The Belgian Deputy President forms part of the Belgian Federal Government and trade delegation (of more than 200 investors) that will be visiting South Africa from the 23rd till the 28th of October 2013. Princess Astrid of the Kingdom of Belgium will lead the delegation accompanied by more than six Belgian Ministers.

The aim of the visit is to strengthen and broaden the economic cooperation and trade relationship between South Africa and Belgium.

Amongst other aims, Deputy Prime Minister De Crem (who also serves as the Defence Minister in Belgium) will hold bilateral discussions with Deputy Minister Makwetla the following Tuesday(29/10/2013) in Pretoria. The bilateral meeting is to exchange ideas on how to strengthen the relationships on common security matters with specific focus on the Great Lakes region.
