Deputy Minister Mabudafhasi to announce winners of the South African Youth Water Awards

Mme Rejoice Mabudafhasi, Deputy Minister of Water and Environmental Affairs will announce the winners of the South African Youth Water Awards during the South African Youth Water Summit, on 1 October 2010, in Gallagher Estate, Midrand.

The Deputy Minister will present the youth awards in the following categories:

  • Baswa le Meetse (Youth in Water) - This competition-based project targets Grade 6 learners and conveys health and hygiene messages through medium of art, ie drama, traditional music, poetry, praise singing and posters
  •  South African Youth Water Prize (SAYWP) - Learners between Grade 9 and 11 are engaged in identifying problems and develop inventions and awareness projects to solve them. The project serves as an incubator for the learning academy
  • Aqua-Enduro - The core business of the programme is issues of drinking water quality. The aim is to develop an interest in learners who are between Grade 8 and 11 to pursue careers in the water sector
  • Invasive Alien Plant Educational Programme - focuses on raising awareness about the impact of invasive alien species on our natural resources.
