Department embarks on outreach to fast track housing provision for veterans

In an effort to assist military veterans access housing subsidies from the provincial government, department officials and the provincial Joint Steering Committee responsible for assisting military veterans access housing provision will be visiting Buffalo City, Makana and Nelson Mandela Municipalities to assist veterans apply for housing subsidies under the military veterans housing assistance programme.

The department is calling upon all military veterans who are registered/not registered in the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) Military Veterans database to contact their respective associations for verification of information on the database ahead of the scheduled visit by the provincial joint steering committee and departmental officials. Those not registered must also register with their respective associations.

A certified copy of:
* the page of the bar coded Republic of South Africa (RSA) identity document containing photograph of applicant and that of his/her spouse
* a marriage certificate (if applicable)
* a spouse’s death certificate (if applicable)
* a divorce decree (if applicable)
* birth certificates of all dependants (if applicable)
* service certificate
