SALGA Anti-Corruption Summit and National Members Assembly 27 to 29 November 2013

The 2011 South African Local Government Association (SALGA) National Conference resolved that local government as the closest sphere to communities has to lead the fight against corruption and maladministration. This informed by a study undertaken by SALGA on the prevalence of corruption and maladministration in municipalities.

As a build up to our vision of enhancing and promoting principles of good governance and resilient municipal administrations, SALGA will convene an Anti-Corruption Summit and National Members Assembly on 27-29 November 2013 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.

Members of the media are invited to attend the Anti-Corruption Summit. Panel discussions will take place at this Summit that will include critical stakeholders and voices from business, civil society, and government, trade unions and the international community.

Speakers at this Summit will include: Deputy Minister of CoGTA: Mr Andries Nel, SALGA NEC Member Cllr Parks Tau, Public Protector Advocate Thuli Madonsela; Lead SA: Mr Yusuf Abramjee, Corruption Watch: Mr David Lewis.

A media briefing will be held at 10:00 onĀ  27 November 2013 and members of the media will have the opportunity to engage with SALGA, its members and other stakeholders at this briefing.
