Minister Nkosinathi Nhleko addresses 2017 SACPCMP Annual Conference, 19 Oct

The Minister of Public Works, Mr. Nkosinathi Nhleko, will address the South African Council for the Project Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP) 5th Project and Construction Management Professions Conference to be held at the Birchwood Hotel and Conference Centre in Boksburg at 9:00 on Thursday 19 October 2017.

“Professionals in the built environment professions have a significant role to play in shaping the future of South Africa through building a sustainable society that will consider the well-being of future generations.

As drivers of development, they have a responsibility to bringing the historically marginalised into the mainstream of the economy and be inclusive in decision making. They are therefore key to ensuring that this is indeed the case. I am confident that those who will be attending the prestigious conference will in their deliberations suggest innovative approaches to professionalism in the built environment,” says Minister Nhleko ahead of the conference.

Following four successful conferences, the 2017 event promises to offer delegates a comprehensive look at burning issues in the project and construction management sector.

The three-day event commences on Wednesday 18-20 October with the Master Class on Wednesday 18 October which is the technical and focused components of the forum.

The Conference itself to be held over 19 and 20 October will be addressed by Minister Nhleko and among others thought leaders from leading private sector institutions, public sector infrastructure development agencies, renowned Built Environment academics and bodies, voluntary associations.

On 20 October the Conference will see an Ambassadors session. Ambassadors from key African countries will outline developments in infrastructure development in each of their respective countries.

The deliberations will focus on opportunities for professionals and the industry as outlined in the Nine-Point Plan which was unveiled by His Excellency the President of the Republic of South Africa, Mr. Jacob Zuma, in his 2015 State of the Nation Address.

Highlights will include massive infrastructure investments of the private sector, both in fully funded private sector initiatives and Public Private Partnerships.
