Higher Education and Training hosts National TVET College conference, 18 to 19 Nov

The Department will host a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) College national conference next week under the theme “Together forging a vibrant Technical and Vocational Education and Training system in South Africa”

The Minister of Higher Education and Training, Dr Blade Nzimande, has invited various key stakeholders in the college sector to consider amongst other things:

  • The status of the TVET colleges and actions and interventions required in the short, medium and long term to achieve 2030 vision as contained in the National Development Plan (NDP) and white paper on post-school education and training.
  • Building partnerships between TVET colleges, Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs), universities and industries.
  • The OECD Research report on TVET in South Africa.

The conference will receive various presentations from distinguished scholars coming from different institutions. The conference will be attended by representatives of all our 50 TVET colleges, high ranking officials from various departments and organisations with interest in the higher education and training sector. The conference will also be attended by the international guests who will share best practice in the college system. We also expect the attendance of some ambassadors from invited countries.
