Deputy Minister Phathekile Holomisa addresses Taxi Associations summit, 26 Nov

The Deputy Minister of Labour, Honourable Inkosi Phathekile Holomisa is to address taxi associations at a summit to be held on the 6 November 2014 at the International Convection Centre in East London under the theme, “Making the Taxi Sector part of the mainstream interventions”.

The summit intends to address the experiences regarding implementation of the latest version of the legislation and policies of Sectoral Determination which regulates minimum wages, and conditions of employment for the workers in the taxi industry. Furthermore the department will also address the requirements and benefits of u-filling, registration and contribution and effectiveness of reporting occupational injuries and diseases in the taxi sector.

“The aim of the Decent Work Agenda is to strengthen the fundamental principles and rights at work, the promotion of employment creation and strengthening as well as broadening social protection of vulnerable workers, this summit serves as a phase that will assist in safeguarding the rights of workers and ensure that all workers have a right to fair labour practice,” said Holomisa.
