Basic Education launches reports at 14th Policy Dialogue Forum, 26 Feb

South Africa to host global education stakeholders during 14th Policy Dialogue Forum

The Department of Basic Education - on behalf of the South African Government - and the UNESCO International Task Force on Teachers for Education 2030 (Teacher Task Force) are jointly organizing the 14th Policy Dialogue Forum (PDF), a global platform for education stakeholders, which aims to foster advocacy, knowledge exchange, peer learning and monitoring of progress towards target 4.c of SDG 4 on teachers and teaching. The Teacher Task Force’s Global Report on Teachers: Addressing teacher shortages will be launched at the PDF. As co-chair of the Teacher Task Force Steering Committee, the Minister of Basic Education, Mrs Angie Motshekga will lead a ministerial panel discussion of the report.

At the same forum the report of the High-Level Panel on the Teaching Profession will also be launched. The High-Level Panel, of which Minister Motshekga is also a member, is co-chaired by two former state presidents and composed of ministries of education and labour, representatives of teachers’ unions and civil society, teachers, students, private sector and academia.

A media briefing on the two reports will be held after the launches.
