Children used as beggars to be removed from the streets

In order to protect children against abuse, the Gauteng Department of Health and Social Development will tomorrow clampdown on adults using children to beg at traffic intersection in Tshwane.

This initiative will be done in partnership with South African Police Service (SAPS), Tshwane Metro Police as well as various non-governmental organisations.

During this drive, children will be removed from intersections and taken to places of safety around Tshwane and following that police will investigate cases of trafficking.
