Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga and Cosatu Secretary General Zwelinzima Vavi to address Eastern Cape Department of Education Quality Learning and Teaching Campaign launch

The Eastern Cape Education Department will today the 11 September 2012 launch the Quality Learning and Teaching Campaign (QLTC) Provincial Structure, at the East London Education Leadership Institute in from 08h00 – 16h00.

The objectives of the launch are:

  • to establish a permanent QLTC Provincial Steering Committee that is representative of all relevant stakeholders
  • to ensure coordination of all QLTC activities in the province
  • to promote and enhance quality learning and teaching for the benefit of all communities and
  • to commit stakeholders to principles of QLTC.

During this launch, a programme of action will be developed to ensure that the newly elected provincial committee:

  • coordinate the QLTC Programme in the province
  • ensure the establishment of QLTC Structures at district and school level
  • monitor the implementation of the QLT campaign at all levels within the province
  • compile reports on a quarterly basis on levels of compliance at school and district level
  • align itself with existing structures (Advisory Council, District Education Forums) for proper coordination, accountability and maximum impact

Key speakers in this launch will include the Minister for Basic Education, Ms Angie Motshekga who will give the keynote address while Cosatu’s Zwelinzima Vavi will give an input on the best practices as outlined in the recently signed National Economic Development and Labour Council (NEDLAC) Accord on basic Education. During the launch the speakers will re-affirm how the quality education for all depends on the actions of all of the education stakeholders.
