Public Protector Advocate Thulisile Madonsela is in Nigeria today to participate in a two day conference on “Corruption and Governance Challenges: Breaking the Cycle” in Nigeria. The conference is scheduled to kick-off in Lagos from tomorrow, Thursday.
Advocate Madonsela is expected to present a paper on Corruption and Governance Challenges: The South African Experience. The paper will focus on strategies the Public Protector uses to fight corruption within the public sector and suggestions on how masses can be mobilised to uproot corruption in African states such as Nigeria.
Organised by the CLEEN Foundation in partnership with the West African Office of the Ford Foundation, the conference is part of a series of activities to mark the 50th anniversary of the Ford Foundation’s grant to Nigeria for governance and human rights.
The CLEEN Foundation is non-governmental organisation in Nigeria while the Ford Foundation is private body that receives donor funds and allocates grants for projects that focus on strengthening democratic values and human rights, among others.
