Date: 6 June 2009

The 2010 mass mobilisation and legacy programme is aimed at galvanising communities across the county in support of the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup, to be held from 14 June 2009 and the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

The road show, which has already been to three provinces (Northern Cape, Eastern Cape and the North West), is a partnership between government, represented by the Department of Sports and Recreation and the 2010 Local Organising Committee.

The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Reverend Makhenkesi Stofile, has described the 2010 mass mobilisation road show as a very important programme that has “assisted government in making people understand the importance of the Confederations Cup; that this event is one of the main events that will test our state of readiness for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.”
