Mpumalanga Education embarks on drive to alleviate food insecurity and sustenance, 10 Dec

The Mpumalanga Department of Education in Partnership with Tiger Brands and the Department of Basic Education will embark on a drive to alleviate food insecurity and sustenance on 10 December 2014 at Mthayiza Primary School in the Ehlanzeni District, 07h30.

This initiative will see 6015 learners and 33 volunteer food handlers of Gutshwa, Tsembaletfu and Mthayiza Primary Schools receiving food parcels.

The learners will receive a 20L bucket consisting of 1kg Jungle Oats, 2.5kg Ace Maize Meal, 2kg Tastic Rice, 410g Koo Baked Beans, 270g Peanut Butter, 2kg Morvite, 500g Lion Sugar Beans, 500g Lion Lentils, 300g Top One Caned Meat and 2kg Maize Samp.

Tiger Brands working together with the Department of Basic Education have so far, through the Food Parcel Project, distributed 60 000 food parcels to the schools that are benefiting from the breakfast projects of Tiger Brands.

Following the success of the previous distribution of the food parcels, Tiger brands is further committing to distributing food parcels in December 2014 to the non-fee paying schools benefiting from its in-school breakfast feeding project.

The distribution will take place on 08 and 09 December 2014, while the formal activation of the project in the province will be conducted on 10 December 2014.
