Unemployment Insurance Commissioner Teboho Maruping invites members of the media in Eastern Cape Province to a briefing session which will take place in Port Alfred on Tuesday, 05 December 2023.
The purpose of the media briefing is to among other things provide an update on the Unemployment Insurance Fund’s (UIF) overall performance with payments to clients in the Eastern Cape, the Covid-19 Temporary Employer Employee Relief Scheme (Covid-19 TERS) as it relates to the province, new technologies and other interventions implemented to make it easier to claim UIF benefits in rural and peri-urban areas, the Fund’s "Follow the Money" project, as well as province specific Covid-19 fraud cases and prosecutions.
Where possible, the UIF will make transport and accommodation arrangements for journalists from outlying parts of the province, that require assistance.
