National Parks Week 2015

14 to 18 September

South African National Parks (SANParks) will be opening its 10th annual SA National Parks Week at Marakele National Park from 14 to 18 September 2015. This initiative in partnership with Total SA is in line with SANParks' vision statement of 'A sustainable National Park System Connecting Society'.

The inaugural SANParks week was held in 2006. It was aimed at linking the South African national parks system to the global national movement and to also showcase the best of South Africa’s national parks. Since its inception in 2006; national parks week has seen an influx of over 130 000 day visitors in all participating parks.

The week grants free access to most of the 21 national parks for day visitors, especially people from the local communities. However, it does not in include free access to accommodation facilities and other tourist activities.
