14 – 20 July
The first National Imbizo Focus Week of the new administration will take place from 14 to 20 July 2014. The Imbizo Focus Week enables Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Premiers and Members of Executive Councils (MECs) to interact closely with communities in different parts of the country.
This week also coincides with the first International Nelson Mandela Day (Mandela Day) since the passing of the struggle icon and founding President, Dr Nelson Mandela.
Government urges all South Africans to honour and remember our beloved Madiba during this Mandela Month by actively participating in the “Clean South Africa Campaign”.
During Mandela Day on 18 July 2014 and more broadly during this month, South Africans are urged to dedicate 67 minutes, especially on 18 July, to clean our cities, towns, townships, villages, schools and beautify every part of our country as per the call made by President Jacob Zuma in his State of the Nation Address on 17 June 2014.
Minister of Communications Faith Mathumbi launched the activities on Sunday, 13 July, in Tohoyandou, Limpopo.
