Premier Senzo Mchunu holds women prayer in KwaMashu, 24 Mar

KZN Premier convenes Womens Prayer in KwaMashu

KwaZulu-Natal Premier Senzo Mchunu has convened a Women’s Prayer which forms part of efforts aimed at ensuring peace and stability ahead of the national general elections.

This prayer which is scheduled to take place in KwaMashu has been organized in partnership with KwaZulu-Natal Progressive’s Women’s Forum. In February, the IFP Women's Brigade branch leader, Nonhlanhla Biyela and NFP’s branch leader Ntombi Mzila were murdered in separate incidents.

“We must not forget that women suffered the most as a result of political violence during the apartheid era. Now that we have attained democracy, we must all condemn any attempt to instil fear in women.”

“As the provincial government we want to send a message that women have a democratic right to participate in any political process including being in position of leadership.”

“We have invited women in the greater Durban area from all political parties. Importantly, we have extended an invitation to political leaders, religious leaders, ordinary women and members of the public.”

Media is invited to attend the Women’s Prayer scheduled as follows:
Date: 24 March 2014
Venue: Rotary Stadium, KwaMashu
