Infection Control Week 2015

17 to 23 October

Infection Control Week is marked on 17 to 23 October to educate health workers and members of the community about the importance of infection prevention.

The most effective way to prevent the transmission of infection is through hand hygiene and effective environmental cleaning. Each time one person cleans their hands, covers their cough or sneeze, or avoids unnecessary contact with others when they feel ill with cold or flu-like symptoms they participate in illness prevention. Whether they are in the hospital environment or in the community, the risk of infection transmission will be decreased through their action.
