Free State government on language policy draft

Free State Provincial Government language policy

The Free State Provincial Government is in the process of compiling a
language policy. The policy aims, inter alia, to facilitate equitable access to
Free State government services, to promote equitable use of designated official
languages, to foster respect for and protect the language rights of the people
of the Free State. I, FB Marshoff, Premier of the Free State Province published
the draft Free State Provincial Government Language Policy (the "policy") in
the Provincial Gazette number 91, for comment.

Copies of the provincial gazette in which the policy was published can be
obtained from the office of the Provincial Gazette, room 341, Lebohang
Building, corner St Andrew and Markgraaff Streets, Bloemfontein from Mondays to
Fridays between 07h30 and 16h00, contact number (051) 405 4963. Copies of the
policy are also available at provincial libraries.

Comments with regard to the policy must be submitted in writing on or before
31 January 2007. Any comments or representations received after 31 January 2007
will be disregarded.
