The repealed Military Veteran's Affairs Act 17 of 1999 intended

  • to provide
    • for the development of national standards regarding military veterans and their dependants, including their entitlements;
    • for the President to be Patron-in-Chief of all military veterans;
    • for relevant Cabinet Committees to perform certain functions for the purposes of this Act;
    • for responsibilities of the Minister of Defence;
    • for the establishment of an Advisory Board for Military Veterans' Affairs;
    • for an Office for Military Veterans' Affairs;
    • for the development, promotion and implementation of policy; and
  • for matters incidental thereto.

Commencement

1 February 2001 (Gazette 22038 of 31 January 2001)
