The Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation – Directorate Community Sport: Mangaung Metro in partnership with the Department of Social Development, Department of Health and Department of Premier has over the past four years staged the Senior Citizens Games (Golden Games) for older persons 60 years and older which is a build up for the eliminations for National Golden games which will be held in Nelspruit from the 29 to 30 October 2014.
All the districts in the Free State province will contest from the 9 to 11 September 2014 About 450 elderly persons will showcase what they are made of. The elderly persons congregating are the best of the best from their towns.
The contest will be of the following codes:

3. Duck Walk
4. Dress Up
5. Goal Shooting
6. Jukskei
7. Passing the Ball
8. Ruby Ball Throw
9. Ring the Stick
10. Pegging Washing Pegs
11. 500m Brisk Walk
12. 100m Run
13. 200m Run
14. 400m Run
15. 800m Run
16. 100m x 4 Relay
The event will take place as follows:
