Minister of Transport, Jeff Radebe launches Khayelitsha Express
in Western Cape

National Transport Minister Jeff Radebe officially launches the luxurious
Khayelitsha Express. Commuters travelling between Khayelitsha and Cape Town
will from now on be doing it in less than 40 minutes. Transport Month saw the
recent launch of the Khayelitsha Express that sports a light blue colour and
six carriages, each with a seating capacity of 50.

According to Metro rail officials, this service will cut the travelling time
to Cape Town CBD by 30 percent. Residents from Khayelitsha, Mandalay and
Heideveld will benefit directly from this service.

Attended by Head of Department, Mr Thami Manyathi and senior departmental
officials, National Transport Minister Jeff Radebe officially launched the
project at the Khayelitsha station recently. After the inauguration speeches,
and colourful celebrations, officials were ushered by drum majorettes to embark
on their first-class journey to Cape Town on the Khayelitsha Express.
