The Department of Economic Development and Tourism will be hosting a full
day Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) Conference on 31 March 2009
at GrandWest Casino.
Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment Conference highlights:
* Western Cape Premier Lynne Brown will deliver the keynote address
* Presentations by Experts in Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment
* Launch of the new provincial-wide BEE4ME Programme and Booklet
* Awards' ceremony to acknowledge individuals and groups who have made
significant contribution to the advancement of Broad-Based Black Economic
Empowerment
* Government departments will present the key deliverables of their programmes
for the next financial year
* The social partners, being Business, Labour and Civil Society, will provide
inputs on their perspective on Government's progress on Black Economic
Empowerment
* Conference participants will be all parties who are interested in Broad Based
Black Economic Empowerment in the Western Cape
Launch of the new provincial-wide BEE4ME Programme and BookletBEE4ME is a new
provincial-wide programme.
* The BEE legislation identifies Women, Youth, People living with disabilities
and People living in rural areas as targeted beneficiaries
* BEE4ME will provide any person from the targeted beneficiaries with all BBBEE
material, information, services and programmes available in the Western Cape
and at a national level
* BBBEE information from the private sector, the public sector and NGOs will be
provided
* BEE4ME provides a one-stop point of distribution where BBBEE services and
programmes can be accessed by the targeted beneficiaries
* A one-stop-shop approach will provide beneficiaries with customised
information packages within the sector they are interested and within the
municipality in which they live.
