The Department of Water Affairs and Forestry will host the Water for Growth
and Development (WfGD) Summit from 26 to 27 March 2009, at the Gallagher
Convention Centre in Midrand.
The Summit will serve as a platform for stakeholders within the water sector
to come up with an action plan for rolling out and improving the WfGD Framework
and setting out sector specific targets for addressing the challenges
highlighted in the framework.
Key government departments, industry, agriculture, forestry, the water
sector and other relevant stakeholders will participate in discussions.
The WfGD Framework, which was launched by the Minister of Water Affairs and
Forestry Mrs Lindiwe Hendricks on 2 March 2009, will set in motion a course of
action to ensure that there is sufficient water to support South Africaâs
growth trajectory and development.
