The Department of Water Affairs and Forestry will host the Water for Growth
and Development event during the National Climate Change Summit in Midrand.
The event will be held on 5 March 2009 and will inform stakeholders on the
WfGD framework and the water sectorâs response to climate change. The
department will illustrate the implications of climate change on water
management and the consequences on the energy sector.
The WfGD framework, which was launched on 2 March 2009, will set in motion a
course of action to ensure that there is sufficient water to support South
Africaâs growth trajectory and development. The framework will provide a
platform for the sector to continue to engage in seeking appropriate long-term
solutions to respond to the challenges in the sector.
