MEC to open R3 million Richards Bay Sharks Board Base
Station

The MEC for Arts, Culture and Tourism, Mrs Weziwe Thusi, will tomorrow,
officially open a Sharks Board Base Station in Richards Bay, on the
KwaZulu-Natal North Coast. The station will be managed by the Sharks Board, a
public entity reporting to the department.

The station is built on a 5 000 square meters lot, boasting an area of 425
square meters, costing approximately R2,9 million rands.

The complex comprises one communal kitchen, two bathrooms, one accommodation
level entrance hall, seven bed rooms of which four have a magnificent bay view,
one administration office with shower toilet and kitchen facilities, one beach
supervisor bedroom with shower, toilet and kitchen facilities, one garage for
boat and vehicle plus a workshop area, one wash bay area, two netting gear
storage rooms, one external fuel bunker, one walk in deep freeze facility.

The station will help improve service delivery and tourism development in
the province.
