2007 World Intellectual Property Day celebrations

24 April 2007

The Department of Trade and Industry (dti) in conjunction with Companies and
Intellectual Property Registration Office (CIPRO) and other stakeholders will
be hosting the annual international World Intellectual Property Day
celebrations. The World Intellectual Property Day celebrations seek to increase
public understanding of what intellectual property really is and to demonstrate
how the intellectual property system fosters not only music, arts and
entertainments, but also all the products and technological innovations that
help to shape our world. The theme for 2007 is "Encouraging creativity."

Over 20 stakeholders in intellectual property have been invited to exhibit
and share their expertise in this event. Free legal advice and general
information relating to intellectual property will also be provided. Attendees
to this event are assured of invaluable information and insight into
intellectual property and its contribution to the intellectual property holder
as an individual, as well to the country's economy as at large.
