launch Operation Coca (Clean Up) in Nelson Mandela Bay

Eastern Cape MEC for Safety, Liaison, Roads and Transport, Mr Thobile
Mhlahlo, will launch the Nelson Mandela Bay Operation Coca (Clean Up) at the
Lillian Ngoyi Hall in KwaZakhele, Port Elizabeth, on Monday, 22 October 2007 at
14h30. This is an initiative by the Ministry for Safety, Liaison, Roads and
Transport in partnership with the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality and the South
African Police Service (SAPS).
The operation will run from October 2007 to January 2008 with the objective
of cleaning up the Nelson Mandela Bay and decreasing criminal activity during
the festive season and to prepare for the 2010 Federation International
Football Association (FIFA) World Cup and beyond.
It will focus on the following:
* most wanted criminals
* roadblocks up to March 2008
* drunk drivers
* stolen vehicles
At the launch, MEC Mhlahlo will be accompanied by the Executive Mayor of the
Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality Councillor Nondumiso Maphazi and the SAPS
Provincial Commissioner Mpumelelo Landu.
