MEC Mhlahlo to launch Post Office Motor Vehicle Licence Renewal
Service

26 September 2007

On Tuesday, 2 October 2007, Eastern Cape MEC for Safety, Liaison, Roads and
Transport, Mr Thobile Mhlahlo, will launch the Motor Vehicle Licence Renewal
Service, which will now be available at the post offices in Buffalo City and
King Sabata Dalindyebo areas.

This event forms part of the Department of Roads and Transport programme for
Transport Month, October 2007.

The launch will be held at the Regent Hotel in East London at 11h00.

It will mark the start of the renewal service of motor vehicle registration
at 12 of the 30 identified sites, 25 in Buffalo City and five in King Sabata
Dalindyebo.

The first 12 sites are: Beacon Bay, East London, Mdantsane, Southernwood,
Gonubie, Vincent, King Williams Town, Amathole, Viedgesville, Unitra, Mqanduli
and Madeira Post Offices.

The main purpose of expanding this service to the Post Office is to cut down
on queues, which the people of the Eastern Cape are currently subjected to,
when they want to renew their motor vehicle licenses at the municipal
offices.
