Abdoulaye Wade on his re-election

Pretoria: South African President Thabo Mbeki today, Friday, 2 March 2007
expressed South Africa's warmest congratulations to President Abdoulaye Wade on
his successful re-election as the President of the Republic of Senegal, during
the Presidential elections held on 25 February 2007.
"On behalf of the government and peoples of South Africa, I particularly
commend the peoples of Senegal for the peaceful and exemplary manner in which
the elections were conducted. Indeed these elections were further evidence of
the strides that have been made by the continent in promoting democracy, the
rule of law and good governance," continued President Mbeki
"The government and the peoples of South Africa look forward to working with
the government and the peoples of the Republic of Senegal as part of efforts
aimed at the renewal of our continent and in furthering the aims of the New
Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD) Process, resolving conflicts in
the continent and further strengthening bilateral relations between the two
countries," said President Mbeki.
