Kampala: South African Thabo Mbeki today Saturday, 24 November 2007,
conveyed on behalf of the government and people of South Africa, his
congratulations to Kevin Rudd, head of Australia's Labour Party and Prime
Minister elect, following a majority win in elections held earlier today.
President Mbeki in a message of congratulations said, "Your Excellency
please accept the warmest congratulations of the government and people of South
Africa and on my behalf following the majority win of the Labour Party of your
Labour Party in elections held earlier today."
"South African Government looks forward to working with the newly elected
Australian Government following the finalisation of your Cabinet."
"Your Excellency I extend my warmest regards and give wishes and best wishes
to you as you assume your new portfolio," concluded President Mbeki.
