President Thabo Mbeki to chair Presidential Trade Union Working
Group Workshop

President Thabo Mbeki will chair a two-day Presidential Trade Union Working
Group Workshop from tomorrow, March 30 till Saturday, March 31, in Cape Town,
Tuynhuys. The last meeting of the Working Group was held on 3 October 2006 at
the Union Buildings in Pretoria.

Amongst other issues, the workshop will consider progress on achieving
faster and shared growth, employment creation and poverty reduction;
trade-related matters as well as current challenges facing the trade union
movement in South Africa.

The President will be accompanied by Deputy President Phumzile
Mlambo-Ngcuka, Ministers of Finance, Trade and Industry, Public Enterprise,
Public Works and Safety and Security as well as the Deputy Minister of Trade
and Industry, advisors and senior government officials.

Labour will be represented by amongst others, Ms Mary Malete of the
Federation of Unions of South Africa (FEDUSA), Mr Willy Madisha and Mr
Zwelinzima Vavi of the Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) and Mr
Mahlomola Skhosana of the National Council of Trade Unions (NACTU).
