Ivy Matsepe-Casaburri appointed as Acting President

President Thabo Mbeki has, in accordance with the provisions of the
Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, appointed Minister of
Communications, Dr Ivy Matsepe-Casaburri as Acting President from 24 to 27
September when Deputy President Ms Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka returns from
China.
President Thabo Mbeki is attending the 62nd Session of the United Nations
General Assembly the United States City, New York. The President will return to
South Africa on 28 September.
