Northern Cape Government mobilise support against crime

The Northern Cape Government will be mobilising support from churches, the
business sector, community structures, unions, political parties,
non-governmental organisations, both the public and private sector as well as
the community on the fight against crime.

Provincial Safety and Liaison MEC Thembalekaya Madikane will be meeting with
the various stakeholders in Kimberley on Wednesday, to discuss their
involvement and roles on the Anti-Crime Mass Mobilisation Campaign. The planned
stakeholders meeting is scheduled at a time when everybody is concerned about
crime and how best this problem can be dealt with.

On 1 June the Department of Safety and Liaison will be launching the
Provincial Anti-Crime Mobilisation Strategy under the theme "Act Against Crime
together." The Department is convinced that this will clearly demonstrate
Government's commitment to the fight against crime.

The Department will make a clarion call to the citizens of the province to
embark on an extensive mass mobilisation against crime and support the police
in the fight against crime. During the launch every sector of the society will
also be reminded of its collective responsibility to build safer and stable
communities.
