Premier League (IPL)
31 March 2009
Sport and Recreation South Africa (SRSA) is helping out with a number of
government related services for the forthcoming relocated Indian Premier
League.
South Africa was chosen on short notice as an alternative venue for the
popular Indian cricket series, which includes numerous international stars.
SRSA will be assisting organisers, players and officials to make their lives
easier while preparing for the tournament. The services will be rendered by
SRSA's Client Services Chief Directorate.
They will be liaising with South Africa's mission abroad to facilitate the
issuing of player and support staff visas, importation of equipment, issues
around taxation and Value Added Tax (VAT), and immigration matters.
Teams will also be welcomed at OR Tambo International Airport by SRSA staff
as they arrive in South Africa.
The project forms part of SRSAâs commitment to supporting international
events held in South Africa.
