and the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA)
Pretoria: The South African Revenue Service (SARS) has noted the withdrawal
of criminal charges against Mr Roger Kebble in the Johannesburg regional court
today.
SARS is informed by the National Prosecution Authority (NPA) that the
withdrawal is provisional to allow for further investigation into charges of
fraud against the taxpayer which is the result of alleged non-declaration of
income earned. Investigations will also focus on the merits of various
allegations the taxpayer made to court during previous appearances.
The provisional withdrawal of charges in no way indicates that SARS or the
NPA is abandoning this matter. SARS remains confident that there is a case to
be answered by the taxpayer. SARS and the NPA are intent on pursuing the matter
until it is properly resolved.
