South African Police Service (SAPS) Commemoration Day

On Sunday, 2 September 2007 at 10h00, the National Commissioner of the South
African Police Service will host our annual Commemoration Day Service at the
South African Police Services Memorial, Union Buildings, Pretoria.

During the service, members of the South African Police Service who died
whilst on duty between 1 January 2006 and 31 March 2007, will be remembered and
honoured by their loved ones and colleagues. The Roll of Honour includes
members who were murdered in the execution of their duties as well as those who
died in vehicle collisions or other accidents whilst on duty.

During the ceremony wreaths will be laid by the Deputy Minister for Safety
and Security, the National Commissioner of the SAPS, the Executive Mayor of the
City of Tshwane, as well as the families, friends of colleagues of our fallen
heroes.

Members of the news media are cordially invited to attend and are requested
to be seated at the press table by 09h55.

Members of the public are also welcome to attend this moving tribute to our
country's police officials who died whilst striving to protect and serve their
communities.
