The Department of Social Development, the South African Social Security
Agency (SASSA) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) are to host the
first ever workshop with international experts to assess the impact of the
child support grant in South Africa, from 26 to 29 November 2007.
Social Development Minister, Zola Skweyiya will officially open the workshop
on 26 November at 09h00, at the South African Reserve Bank conference centre,
Pretoria.
The workshop has the following objectives:
* to share national and international experiences of impact evaluation of
social grants
* to explore methodological alternatives to implement a multi-year impact study
of the child support grant.
