SAPS pays tribute to late Pule Patrick Ntsoelengoe

The legacy of late Pule Patrick Ntsoelengoe will live on

11 May 2006

The sudden passing on of Pule Patrick Ntsoelengoe on Monday morning, 8 May
2006, has undoubtedly left many South Africans, from all walks of life, in
total shock and disbelief. The South African Police Service (SAPS) is no
exception.

We have noted, with great interest, Mr Ntsoelengoe's selfless involvement,
over a period of time, with the youth, through sport. We have nothing but
praise for his contributions, which led many a youth to live positively and
make the best out of their circumstances, however trying they might have been.
Though he was not involved directly with the SAPS's structures on Social Crime
Prevention Strategies, we are of the opinion that his interaction with the
youth, contributed immensely in keeping them in the narrow with regard to
societal evils that continue to beset our communities.

Currently, the SAPS are running various projects aimed specifically at the
youth within our communities. The safer schools project, for instance, ran with
various national departments, has yielded results far beyond our expectations.
Issues relating to gangsterism, the insidious drug and alcohol addiction and
the use of illegal fire-arms, had been tackled. The mere fact that "Ace", as he
was popularly known, trained and coached his employers' (Kaizer Chiefs FC)
under 15 teams, made him a role model to the young and vulnerable. We believe
that among others, he gave them motivational talks on how to live life.

Given his large-than-life stature, it goes without saying that he also
imparted his vast knowledge to the opposing teams and the youth in general. A
nation’s wealth is measured in terms of how well it takes care of its own
children. Pule Patrick "Ace" Ntsoelengoe definitely, in his lifetime, took care
of the young and vulnerable. We salute this great son of the soil for making a
difference in the lives of the youth.

Our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and the Kaizer Chiefs
Football Club
