The Secretariat for Safety and Security wishes to point out the
misinformation spread by the Democratic Alliance (DA) regarding outstanding
unanswered parliamentary question by our department. Although the DA alleges
that we have 24 outstanding questions, pending the correct number is one!
Since this fallacious piece of information was distributed 13 December, a
whole two days after we had submitted all but one of our outstanding replies
one can only speculate why such information is deliberately fed to the South
African public.
As the DA should by know by now, we take our parliamentary obligations very
seriously in spite of being the government department that absolutely answers
the most questions in Parliament. During this past year alone, the Minister
dealt with a staggering amount of 281 questions for Safety and Security, of
which only one reply is still outstanding.
