constitute conflict of interest
13 November 2007
KwaZulu-Natal Premier Sibusiso Ndebele has dismissed the pathetic attempts
at attention seeking by Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) leader Dr Lionel
Mtshali.
Mtshali's media release has only nuisance value and is devoid of any truth
because he has nothing to offer the people of KwaZulu-Natal. In order to
attract publicity, he must always attach himself to the Premier of the
province. In the Sunday papers he made a reckless statement claiming that the
life of Premier Ndebele is dependant on former KwaZulu police presumably loyal
to him. This is a reckless statement which the Provincial Commissioner of
Police is now investigating and action will be taken in this regard.
Mtshali then makes wild statements about the supposed business links Premier
Ndebele is alleged to have. For the record, if there were business links, the
law requires that there should be declaration of interests which is accessible
to anyone wanting to know. Premier Ndebele cultivates no mushrooms, cultivates
no rice, has no Nguni cattle linked to government and has absolutely no Rainbow
Chicken franchise.
Premier Ndebele is serving Mtshali a defamation order.
